Day 20: Eastern Crete

May 9th, 2013

Today we traveled to Malia, where we learned how to read an archaeological plan of the Minoan Palace and explore the actual site.

Then we stopped in Agios Nikolaos for coffee and tea and saw the inlet where the German World War II artillery still remains submerged.

Then we stopped at Gournia, a Minoan settlement, where we used our critical thinking skills again to determine if it was a palace or a town.

We continued driving to Pachia Ammos, the home village of Dr. D. Here we celebrated Elliott's Birthday at a local restaurant. We got some free time on the beach and we got to visit Dr. D's summer home.
